Introduction: 

The first issue of this bulletin of this bulletin, entitled "Access To Information In Central Asia” (Monitoring and Analysis of Violations of Journalists’ And Media Rights) covering Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan came out on 30 October 2003.

This bulletin is a publication of the Central Asian Media Support Project (by CIMERA) dealing with restrictions on the journalists’ access to information of public concern as well as on its distribution throughout Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The monitoring of violations of the journalists’ right to obtain information, publicizing monitoring reports, holding round-table discussions focusing on the access to information and lobbying media interests are among the principal activities of the Central Asian Media Support Project in its commitment to contribute, as much as possible, to the consolidation of media positions as far as information collection and distribution are concerned. 

The bulletin “Access To Information In Central Asia” (Monitoring and Analysis of Violations of Journalists’ And Media Rights) will be a Russian-language publication issued with a print run of 300 copies twice a year.
